Rui Hachimura reveals he might have squandered $500K Lakers players’ money.
Rui Hachimura just gave fans one of the funniest post-championship confessionals in recent NBA history. While everyone was still celebrating the Lakers winning the inaugural NBA Cup, Rui casually revealed that he sort of blew the entire $500K bonus the team received for the victory. Not some of it. Not a chunk. The whole thing. Poof. Gone. Just like that.
“I think I bought a car, but I think I was telling people that I didn’t know how much it was going to be. But I was going to bet on the black. I’m going to do it. All five of us. All five of us. I don’t know why I said that. But I didn’t do it. I got scared. I’m not going to lie,” Hachimura said.
Fans loved the honesty. It made Rui feel relatable in a “super rich but still humble” way. It also made people wonder what the actual near-purchase was. A sports car he didn’t need?
