Nike’s USMNT Jerseys Leak Ahead of 2026 World Cup

The United States is hosting the 2026 World Cup along with Canada and Mexico and fans have been anxiously awaiting the reveal of the jerseys the USMNT will be taking the pitch in. Thanks to the folks at Footy Headlines, the designs of the home and away kit for the USMNT have leaked and fans can get their first look before the official drop by Nike later this year.

The home kit is similar to one of the most popular kits in USMNT history known as the “Waldo” which the team wore in the 2012 cycle that featured red and white horizontal stripes. Many fans believe it is the best kit worn by the USMNT and they have fond memories of team legends like Clint Dempsey and Michael Bradley wearing it.

The 2026 version is similar but instead of horizontal blocks it features wavey stripes that evoke the image of the American flag flowing in the wind. It also features the same navy-blue collar from the 2012 kit but also has blue cuffs on the sleeve for a classy look. This should be one of the best selling jerseys for the US men’s and women’s teams in recent history and will be boosted by the USMNT’s role as host nation in the World Cup.

The away jersey has also leaked and it is a simple and muted look that is classy but may be a tad underwhelming on the field. The jersey appears to be a matte black with a subtle star pattern that was clearly inspired by the “stars” portion of the stars and stripes. This jersey looks like it will be striking up close but on television it may just look like the USMNT is wearing a plain black shirt with metallic accents. For as great as the home jersey looks this might be a disappointing effort from Nike as they seem to lean too heavily on black at times with away jerseys.

Ultimately the sportswear giant could have released plain white and black jerseys with the US badge and they would sell like hot cakes because it is a World Cup year but they clearly put some real effort into the home kit at the least. We expect the USMNT to be wearing the home kit most of the time anyway as a host country and that is definitely the nicer of the two.
