Just when you thought the saga of R. Kelly could not get any stranger, here we are.
The latest twist? He is reportedly being investigated for possessing a retired warden’s phone number. Yes, a phone number. Not a secret tunnel, not a jailbreak blueprint. A contact saved somewhere that apparently raised eyebrows.
Somewhere, an investigator probably looked at a call log and said, “Wait. Why does he have that number?” And just like that, a whole new chapter was born.
As the investigation continues, Kelly has also been placed in solitary confinement. That means less social time, less chatting, less, well, everything. Just him, four walls, and a lot of thinking time.
Kelly‘s attorney, Beau Brindley, tells TMZ … the R&B singer’s problems began when he got involved in a mentor program to help guide other inmates, which was overseen by the warden at FCI Butner Medium 1.
Recently, the warden retired … but before he left, he gave Kelly his cell phone number in case the convicted felon needed to reach out to him to seek advice about the mentor program.
Some time after that, Kelly’s cellmate got busted with a mobile phone on his person — which is considered contraband in prison.
The lawyer says prison officials searched the inmates’ prison cell and found Kelly’s notebook, in which the retired warden’s phone number was written.
For Kelly, this means more scrutiny, more headlines and more “can you believe this?” moments. His name has become almost synonymous with courtroom drama and prison updates. Every few months, there seems to be a new plot twist.
For now, the investigation is ongoing. He remains in solitary as officials figure things out. Whether this turns into something major or fades into the background remains to be seen.
But one thing is certain: when it comes to R. Kelly, quiet chapters do not seem to exist.
