The Winter Olympics are supposed to be about speed. Ice, glory and National pride. But sometimes? The internet decides it’s about something else. Enter Dutch speed skating star Jutta Leerdam.
During the Winter Olympics, Jutta was doing what she does best. Skating fast. Very fast. Like “blink and she’s gone” fast.
And then the cameras zoomed in.
Some viewers noticed what they called a “wardrobe malfunction.” Social media, of course, reacted like it had just discovered Wi-Fi for the first time. Clips started circulating, screenshots started flying and comment sections went into overdrive.

Dutch speedskater Jutta Leerdam has fallen down quite a bit on the ice. During what appears to be a practice session, she suffered one of the worst falls of her career.
She fell onto the ice and crashed into a siding. It was so bad that the pants were ripped from the back. Unfortunately for her, she had no clue as she bent over to gather herself from the fall.
The Dutch female speedskater lived up to the high expectations that were set for her on Monday. She won the gold medal in the 1,000-meter speed skating at the Winter Olympics. Jutta set an Olympic record with a time of 1:12.31.
The Olympics are intense, cameras are everywhere, athletes are under a microscope, and one small wardrobe shift becomes global news in seconds.

But through all the noise, Jutta kept her focus on the ice.
At the end of the day, medals matter more than memes.

And while the internet may have briefly “broken,” Jutta Leerdam did what she came to do.
Skate fast, compete hard, and remind everyone that Olympic athletes are built different.
