A routine elevator ride turned into a near nightmare after a man was almost crushed in a terrifying accident that could have easily ended much worse. The man has now been identified as Vatsalbhai Pancha, and his story is the kind that makes people look at elevators a little differently the next time the doors open.
According to reports, Pancha was simply stepping out of an elevator like millions of people do every day. Nothing unusual. Just another normal moment in a building.
Then suddenly things went completely wrong.
When the lift reached Pancha’s floor, he only managed to get one foot out of the narrow doors before it suddenly boosted upwards.
Pancha appeared to slam his head against the ceiling, knocking him downwards — and safely out of the elevator that nearly sliced him in half.
The lift surged upwards so quickly that the doors didn’t even close, according to the CCTV footage.
Some sort of electrical issue was cited as the reason for the dangerous error.
Pancha suffered internal injuries in his near-brush with death, the outlet reported.
Other residents on multiple floors in the 14-story complex told local media that they heard a loud crash when the lift malfunctioned. Curious neighbors seeking out the source of the noise found Pancha collapsed near the elevator bank and rushed to his aid, the outlet reported.
Vatsalbhai Pancha found himself in a terrifying life-or-death situation that lasted only seconds but could have changed everything.
Thankfully, he made it out alive.

And after an experience like that, it’s safe to say one thing: the next time Vatsalbhai Pancha sees an elevator door open, he might take a moment before stepping inside.
