Phoenix Suns Player Dillon Brooks Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks encountered legal trouble early Friday in Arizona. Police arrested him in Scottsdale for traffic violations and suspicion of driving under the influence. Officers pulled Brooks over around 1 a.m. local time. Authorities suspected impairment during the encounter. Officers then placed the NBA forward under arrest.

Police transported Brooks to a Scottsdale detention facility. Jail records show officers booked him shortly after the stop. Officials released him several hours later after processing.

Authorities have not shared many details about the investigation. Prosecutors will review the case before deciding on formal charges. Police also have not released test results or additional evidence.

The Phoenix Suns acknowledged the situation soon after reports surfaced. Team representatives said they continue collecting information. The organization has not announced discipline or further action.

The Suns organization gave Arizona’s Family the following statement:

“We are aware of the situation involving Dillon Brooks and are gathering more information. We have no further comment at this time.” – Stacey Mitch, senior vice president, communications

The arrest comes during Brooks’ injury recovery. He suffered a fractured hand in February. The injury forced him to miss several recent games.
