Meet Keyshun Jones, a former employee at a Chick-fil-A location in Grapevine, who is now accused of pulling off what might be the most oddly specific scheme of the year.
According to reports, Jones didn’t just leave his job and move on. Authorities say he allegedly kept coming back, like it was a loyalty program nobody signed up for. The plan? Walk in, ring up food orders, then refund them straight to his personal credit card.
Simple, bold and extremely illegal. And here’s where it gets even wilder.
The item of choice? Mac & cheese. Not nuggets, bot sandwiches, not even the famous waffle fries. Just mac & cheese, over and over again, like he had a personal vendetta against pasta.
Investigators say Jones allegedly rang up around 800 orders of mac & cheese. That’s not a craving, that’s a full-blown business model. At this point, you start wondering if he knew the recipe by heart.
The total damage? About $80K, all from a side dish.
Investigators began investigating the fromage fraud after the restaurant reported hundreds of phony refunds.
Security camera footage shows Jones behind the counter carrying out the bogus transactions, prosecutors say.
An arrest warrant was issued on April 6, court records show.
He was finally brought in by the Texas Attorney General’s Fugitive Task Force and the Fort Worth Police Department.
Jones faces charges of property theft, money laundering and evading arrest.
He faces up to 10 years in state prison, if convicted — where he’ll also be able to order mac & cheese, according to the menus on the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
At the end of the day, this isn’t just a funny headline, it’s a serious accusation involving a large amount of money and a system that clearly got exploited.
