LaVar Ball fired back at critics following backlash aimed at his son, LaMelo Ball, after a controversial on-court incident.
“I bet if you look in the dictionary right now, you look up a clown, you’re going to see two things. One, it’s going to be somebody who has long hair on the sides and a big a** nose. Yup, that’s Nick Wright!” said LaVar.

The play involved Bam Adebayo during a play-in game. Many observers accused LaMelo of making a dangerous move that led to Adebayo’s fall. Erik Spoelstra openly criticized the action and suggested it crossed the line. The incident sparked a league review. Officials later ruled that LaMelo made unnecessary contact and issued a $60,000 fine.
LaVar Ball rejected those claims and defended his son strongly. He argued that physical contact happens naturally in competitive basketball. He insisted players react instinctively in fast situations.
He questioned whether critics understood the intensity of the moment. He said players protect themselves when bodies collide during plays. He urged people to stop exaggerating the situation.
