According to reports, Coach Mattingly decided to blur the lines between “mentor” and “absolutely not,” and now here we are. Instead of focusing on drills, teamwork, and yelling “hustle” from the sidelines, she found time to hit send on messages that should’ve never existed in the first place.
Bardstown High School teacher Mary ‘Hanna’ Mattingly, 31, was taken into custody on Monday around 10.30am and charged with sexual abuse and procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means.
Mattingly ‘engaged in sexual contact with a high school student,’ according to police.
She also allegedly sent ‘partially nude photographs’ of herself to the high schooler.
The investigation began after Bardstown City Schools received an anonymous letter detailing ‘alleged inappropriate conduct between a female substitute teacher and a student,’ according to WDRB.
That led to Mattingly being placed on administrative leave, and school officials contacting law enforcement.
Mattingly was arrested by Bardstown police and taken to the Nelson County Correctional Center.
She posted a $20,000 bond on Tuesday and is scheduled to be arraigned April 7.
Investigators said they had ‘followed up with information from the letter’ and verified some of its content, according to WLKY.
Mattingly’s relationship with the high school student had lasted for several months, police said.
