The internet woke up to fresh drama today, and this time it stars none other than Paul Pierce, who has stepped forward to claim he is the father of Princess Santiago’s two-month-old baby, King Rafael Santiago Pierce. And because this is 2026 and nothing can ever be simple, he’s not just saying “hi” and sending diapers, he’s demanding joint custody.
Pierce has decided now is the perfect time to make things official, two months late, but hey, better late than never, or at least that’s what he’s hoping the courts will say. Apparently, he wants to be involved in the child’s life, which is admirable in theory. In reality? The timing has people raising eyebrows higher than his old three-point shots.
As we’ve previously reported, she’s asking for sole legal and physical custody — plus a hefty $29,811 per month in child support, $100K in legal fees, and nearly $19K in pregnancy-related expenses. Santiago filed a paternity suit in California back in January.
She’s also made sure to highlight Pierce’s massive NBA earnings — claiming he pulled in close to $200 million during his career — as justification for the sizable monthly ask.
Princess Santiago tells TMZ … “For nine months, I went through this pregnancy alone — no financial support, no in-person presence from Paul. Now that the DNA test confirms he’s the father, he’s seeking joint custody?”
At the end of the day, there’s a baby involved, so hopefully the situation gets handled with a bit more maturity than the internet is capable of. But this is celebrity drama, so expectations should remain realistic.
One thing is certain: Paul Pierce just went from trending for basketball highlights to trending for baby headlines. And honestly? That’s a career pivot nobody saw coming.
