If you thought NFL fans only showed up for touchdowns and tailgates, think again. Mike Vrabel walked into a New England Patriots season ticket holder event with something unexpected: a full-on standing ovation. Not polite clapping, not golf applause. We’re talking “rise to your feet like it’s the Super Bowl” energy.

And this wasn’t just any random Tuesday night gathering. The event took place at Gillette Stadium, where fans gathered for a panel-style discussion with team media. You know, the usual: football talk, optimism, maybe a few questions about the upcoming season.

Instead, they got drama, and unexpected standing ovation.

Vrabel has been in the headlines lately thanks to a swirling scandal involving Dianna Russini. Rumors, speculation, alleged long-term affair: the whole internet package. So when Vrabel showed up, people were watching closely. Would it be awkward? Quiet? A little side-eye from the crowd? Absolutely not.

Enter Scott Zolak, who decided this moment needed a little flair. Zolak stood up and eencouraged the crowd to get on their feet. And guess what? They did and gave that standing ovation to their coach.

It comes at a time where Vrabel‘s future with the Patriots remains an ongoing question as the coach missed the third day of the NFL Draft to deal with his personal issues.

In an emotional press conference last week, he admitted he had been forced to have some ‘difficult conversations’ with his family about the Russini scandal.

But as a source told The Daily Mail, the New England coach also feels remorse over Russini’s situation after she quit her job at The Athletic.

‘Mike feels terrible on many levels, especially since Dianna’s career is pretty much over, and that blood is on his hands,’ the source said.

‘He feels terrible that he is responsible and that she may never be able to work again.’

They continued: ‘There happens to be so many emotions going through him right now that for whatever counseling he is taking part in will be a continued situation for the foreseeable future.

‘All of this is not going to be fixed overnight. He has to get on the right page with himself, and everyone involved, and that is easier said than done, and we are currently on the bottom of that mountain.

‘He has a lot of climbing to do to get to the top of the mountain and on level footing. He’s hoping that the saying time heals all wounds is true. He’s resting his beliefs on that right now and drowning himself in work.’

In the NFL, wins fix everything. But apparently, a standing ovation helps too.

So while the headlines keep spinning, Vrabel just got a reminder, at least in that room, on that night, he’s still got a crowd on his side.
