George Karlaftis of the Kansas City Chiefs officially tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend and high school sweetheart, Kaia Harris, during a beautiful Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony in Greece.
And honestly? The whole thing sounded like a movie Netflix would immediately turn into a romantic comedy called “Love & Lombardi Trophies.”
The wedding took place in Glyfada, Greece, and paid tribute to Karlaftis’ Greek roots. Before becoming an NFL star and two-time Super Bowl champion, the Chiefs defensive end actually grew up in Athens before moving to the United States as a teenager.
So basically this wedding had everything: love, culture, football players, emotional speeches, and enough carbs to feed a small nation.
The ceremony included several traditional Greek wedding customs, including wedding crowns, circling the altar, and rice-throwing. Which sounds elegant until you realize somebody probably spent three hours vacuuming rice afterward.
“I think my favorite part was the ceremony because I got really emotional, more than I expected to,” Karlaftis told PEOPLE. “I didn’t expect to cry as much as I did during the ceremony. I was borderline bawling when I saw Kaia and her dad walk down the aisle.”
About 220 guests attended the celebration, including family, friends, Chiefs teammates, and one very important VIP guest: the couple’s 8-year-old dog, Ralph.
Honestly, Ralph might have stolen the entire wedding, because no matter how expensive the venue is or how emotional the vows get, people will always lose their minds over a dog in wedding photos.
And let’s be real, sticking with your high school sweetheart after becoming a professional athlete deserves its own championship ring. The NFL lifestyle is chaotic enough already. Long-distance schedules, fame, pressure, and constant attention can turn relationships into reality TV episodes real fast, but Karlaftis and Harris kept it solid.
