WNBA Officials Slammed for Their “Blatant Favoritism” of Caitlin Clark

Two female basketball players compete for the ball: an Indiana player in blue drives forward while a Storm defender reaches in.

A seasoned sports analyst has criticized the WNBA referees for their handling of starlet Caitlin Clark. A former ESPN star has not been pleased with a number of the Indiana Fever player’s scandals.

Both Clark and the WNBA were criticized by seasoned sports reporter Cari Champion for their prejudice toward the 24-year-old. Champion criticized Clark’s “entitlement” and the preferential treatment she gets from the league.

On her Flagrant & Funny podcast, Champion stated:

“The more we get to catch these glimpses of Clark, I’m like, ‘I don’t like you. I don’t like the way you behave on the court,”

Champion cited Clark’s multiple altercations with veteran Tiffany Hayes during a game against the Golden State Valkyries last week.

She then brought up Clark’s dismissal of her late scratch for a game earlier this month, for which Indiana received a warning from the WNBA for violating injury reporting regulations.

Champion then likened a recent technical foul for Dallas Wings player Paige Bueckers, who was called just because she clapped, to an incident from the previous season in which Clark told a referee to open their eyes.

Champion thinks that although some of the problems might be the “growing pains” of a young celebrity, the pattern points to Clark’s preferred course of treatment.

Well, how times change. Not long ago, Caitlin Clark was supposedly a “victim” and not well protected.
