Ciara gave her NFL star husband Russell Wilson a nine-word note. Following Wilson’s announcement of his NFL retirement at age 37, the 40-year-old singer spoke out.
On social media, singer Ciara has expressed her support for her spouse. On Wednesday, quarterback Wilson released a three-minute video with highlights to announce his retirement.
“Thank you, Football. Wilson wrote, “Love, #3,” as the caption on his Instagram photo.
Then, in the comments, wife Ciara offered her support. Ciara said:
“The best in the world! There’s only one, 3!”
“Always so proud of you! It’s a true blessing to go on this journey with you! My greatest inspiration! I love you so much!”
A stream of NFL players joined Ciara in thanking the ten-time Pro Bowl quarterback on his amazing career. “Congrats on a helluva career man!” said Patrick Mahomes, a 30-year-old quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft, Wilson was chosen by the Seattle Seahawks. He started for the team right away and helped them win Super Bowl XLVIII.
Before spending two years with the Denver Broncos in 2022, the quarterback played with the Seahawks for ten seasons. Single-season stints with the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers came next.
But during the 2025 season, Wilson lost his starting position to 23-year-old rookie Jaxson Dart. He will now play for CBS Sports during the 2026 NFL season. Wilson’s remarkable career as a professional football player brought in $316 million.
