A 2-year-old puppy was shot and killed by the Los Angeles Police Department after his owner phoned the police for yelling after the Knicks won the NBA championship. We’ve been informed that the police have not yet offered an apology to the distraught mother.
The late dog’s owner, Marie Marseille, and her sister Vanessa told TMZ that the family is grieving the loss of Marie’s doodle, Jamison, and are attempting to console one another in the face of a “very shocking and devastating” circumstance.
To make matters worse, Marie’s sister informs us that the LAPD has not extended an apology to the family in the wake of Saturday night’s tragedy.
As previously reported, after the Knicks’ historic victory on Saturday, neighbors heard screams coming from Marie’s Canoga Park apartment and phoned the police. After Jameson allegedly charged at police during their encounter with Marie, an officer shot and killed him.
Police claim that they asked Marie to keep the dog under control, but Marie claims Jameson did nothing wrong. Vanessa told TMZ that Jameson was a nice breed, pointing out… “Officers know how dogs behave because they own dogs. It’s all so incredible because Jameson was merely a doodle.
Vanessa adds that they would like to push for increased officer training in order to prevent similar incidents in the future.
