With the Los Angeles Lakers, the LeBron James era is ended. James made the decision to depart the team in favor of a fresh start this offseason after weighing his choices.

Following the announcement that the future Hall of Famer would not be returning, the Lakers and James sent each other positive messages, suggesting that their split was amicable.

However, James made no mention of his reasons for wanting to leave Los Angeles in his statement. There was probably hope that the squad could compete in the upcoming season with Luka Dončić still on board, something James probably wants to do as his career comes to a conclusion.

In an interview with Max Kellerman, agent Rich Paul explained that although it seemed early in the free-agency process that James would rejoin the team, the star forward eventually decided to leave after growing disenchanted with the idea.

Paul stated early in the offseason that he was 80% certain James will come back to Los Angeles. However, Paul claimed that number started to decline after speaking with James several times over the course of the following few weeks.

Paul told the squad that James had made the decision to leave the Lakers. Paul didn’t want to waste anyone’s time by holding official meetings to discuss bringing James back. However, he said, the Lakers were considering bringing James back.
