Breakups are never easy. Breakups involving celebrities are somehow even worse because millions of strangers suddenly become relationship experts overnight.
One minute you’re posting vacation pictures, the next minute the internet is building conspiracy boards that would make detectives jealous.
Enter Tristan Thompson, a man who probably knows a thing or two about surviving public relationship drama.
According to Tristan, Klay Thompson’s best move in his split from Megan Thee Stallion is simple: Close the laptop, put down the phone, mute the notifications, and most importantly, keep quiet.
Honestly, it might be the first time in history that “say absolutely nothing” has qualified as life advice from an NBA veteran.
Tristan Thompson Sends Message to @KlayThompson After Megan Thee Stallion Breakup
"If you speak up, you give it more legs. If she wants to say something, let her do whatever she wants to do. As a man, keep your mouth quiet." –@TThompson pic.twitter.com/n5cGiw4iDB

Tristan encouraged Klay to protect his peace and avoid jumping into the endless cycle of headlines, rumors, accusations, and social media investigations that tend to follow celebrity breakups.
“Don’t say anything. I think the worst thing you could do is feed into the beast. If you speak up, you give it more legs. You allow them to take another day to talk about it,” Tristan shared. “You had a relationship with someone, an artist. It didn’t work out. If she wants to say something, let her do whatever she wants to do.”
“You keep your mouth quiet. And honestly, as a man, keep your mouth quiet. Because I’ve never gone out there and defended myself. It’s just not what we do, right?” TT added. “I think I’ve known Klay for a long time, and you know, he’s living his life. He wants to go fish and enjoy it, and as he should.”
Tristan Thompson believes athletes should keep their love lives private.
“Our life is so public, some things should be left private if you can,” the 6’9″ forward said. “When you’re in the dating phase, and it’s very early, cherish and protect that. Because if you allow people to have access to that, now you give your whole life away. If everything in your life can be touched and messed around with, what do you have to yourself?”
“At least if you love this girl or you’re into her, try to cherish it for as long as you can and keep it private.”
Klay is probably somewhere wondering how a simple breakup became a twenty-four-hour news channel.
For once, silence might actually be the loudest response in the room.
