San Francisco 49ers principal owner and CEO Jed York filed for divorce from his wife of more than 15 years in May, court records show, three months before he was arrested in Ohio on suspicion of arranging to pay $140 for s*x.
York submitted the petition in Santa Clara County Superior Court on May 11, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple’s two minor children, Jaxon and Brixton, were listed as additional parties. Records reviewed by multiple outlets indicate the pair already agreed to joint legal and physical custody of their sons, ages 13 and 10. Division of assets and property had not been settled, and the case remained pending at the time of York’s arrest.
York and Danielle Belluomini York married in 2011. Belluomini, a former San Francisco public-school teacher, has generally kept a low public profile while appearing with her husband at team events. The family lives in the Bay Area.
York was arrested Sunday morning at 9:35 a.m. at the Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community in East Palestine, Ohio, near his Youngstown hometown. Court documents allege he responded to an undercover advertisement on a known prostitution website and “arranged to have sexual activity with the female in exchange for $140.” Officers said he was found at the meeting location with the cellphone used to make the arrangement. The operation involved the East Palestine Police Department and the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.
He was initially charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. On Monday he pleaded no contest to reduced misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools. York was fined $1,150, sentenced to one day in jail on each count to be served concurrently, and given credit for time already served. Records also show $160 seized in the arrest was forfeited to the human trafficking task force and that his phone was to be returned.
The 49ers issued a brief statement Monday: “As this is a legal matter, which has been resolved, we will not be providing any further comment at this time.”
An NFL spokesman said the league is “aware of the matter which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy.”
York, 46, became the 49ers’ CEO in 2008 and principal owner in 2024 after acquiring additional equity from his mother, Denise DeBartolo York. The York-DeBartolo family has controlled the franchise since 2000. Under York’s leadership the team has reached three Super Bowls, all losses, and built Levi’s Stadium. The family fortune has been estimated at $8.5 billion, and the 49ers rank among the NFL’s most valuable franchises.
There is no public indication the divorce filing and the Ohio case are legally connected. The dissolution remains open in Santa Clara County. The league’s personal-conduct review is separate from the resolved Ohio misdemeanors.
York has not issued a personal statement. The 49ers open the regular season in September.
