Becky Hammon Is Held Back and Ejected After Outburst Against Dream

Basketball players and staff clustered near the sideline as fans cheer in the arena. A woman in white with pink shoes stands near a shouting woman in glasses and a man in a red-hooded coat holds a clipboard.

After being ejected from the game on Tuesday, Becky Hammon made sure to get the final say. On the sidelines following her team’s 97-82 loss to the Atlanta Dream, the Las Vegas Aces coach lost it.

When Hammon believed that Dream center Madina Okot had fouled her best player, A’ja Wilson, she lost it. The Dream moved down the court without a foul being called on the play, but they were unable to score after Angel Reese’s shot was missed.

However, Hammon stormed onto the court at that same moment, yelling at the referees. After receiving a technical foul right away, she became even more enraged and yelled at the referee. Wilson and many coaches had to intervene to restrain Hammon.

However, it was insufficient, and she was automatically ejected after receiving a second technical foul. The rest of the game was coached by assistant coach Charlene Thomas-Swinson. After the game, Thomas-Swinson answered questions from the media instead of Hammon.

The Aces are currently 24-13 and in fourth position in the WNBA following the defeat. The regular season has seven games left. Now leave a comment.
