Jacob Fields, a former TCU safety, was taken into custody on Sunday. Fields was accused of aggravated assault inflicting serious bodily injury after being fired from the squad on August 18 following an alleged incident with a teammate.
Field handed himself in and is being held at the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth, Texas, according to his agent Phillip Miller, who told the outlet that he is anticipated to be freed on bond on Sunday.
Earlier this month, Fields is alleged to have punched TCU WR Dozie Ezukanma in the locker room. Ryan Dorchester, general manager of TCU, then called the police to report the incident. Ezukanma claimed that Fields used a “sucker-punch” to render him unconscious in a since-deleted Instagram video.
Miller had already refuted the accusation:
“Like much of what circulates online, a significant portion of what has been shared on social media regarding this situation is false or purely speculative”. “Jacob Fields and his family have not nor will have any further comment on the situation. Jacob misses TCU, his teammates, coaches and the relationships he built there. He was a good student, a hard worker and competitor who built many meaningful friendships during his time at TCU.”
“He is grateful for the opportunity the university gave him. While disappointed, Jacob understands that given the circumstances, it was in the best interest of all parties to move forward. He respects that decision and wishes his teammates and the TCU program nothing but success.”

Before coming to TCU, Fields played his first three years of college at Louisiana Tech. The previous season, he was voted Conference USA’s Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
