In a significant announcement, Jerry Jones stated that he is not against giving up a portion of his $13 billion Dallas Cowboys ownership. After thirty years without a Super Bowl victory, the president of the Cowboys is considering selling a share of his franchise.

According to the Dallas Morning News, former long-standing Dallas Mavericks majority owner Mark Cuban stated he is “open to” purchasing a stake in the Cowboys.

According to the article, Jones stated that he is “open to” selling Cuban a stake. Jones acknowledged that while he isn’t interested in expanding the ownership group right now, he isn’t opposed to doing so in the future. He said:

“That’s exactly why if you’re me, you would be open to that is because of the man,”

“I have all the respect in the world for him and I know what he did for the Mavericks and what he’s done for basketball.

“He’s in addition to financial boatstreams of your team, you want to associate with the highest quality of [a person] who loves the game and then also at the same time wants to do something about it.

“Mark leads the way in that.”

Cuban’s fund is not authorized to own portions of NFL teams. However, rather than his private-equity fund, Jones might prefer Cuban as a partner. After owning the Mavericks for over 20 years, Cuban sold the bulk of the team in 2013.

Cuban still owns 27% of the franchise, though. Additionally, Cuban and his private equity firm own an ownership position in the MLB’s Athletics.
