Los Angeles Chargers fans apparently had other things on their minds when Madison Beer’s Fortnite skin made its big reveal.
Yes, the singer got the video game treatment and fans noticed.
But with Justin Herbert struggling on the field, the timing was about as perfect as a missed fourth-down conversion.
Beer’s Fortnite skin quickly became a talking point online. The singer has a huge following, so seeing her turn into a playable character was always going to get attention.
But Chargers fans were apparently not in the mood for virtual celebrities.

They wanted football. More specifically, they wanted Herbert to lock in and play better.
Beer celebrated this achievement with an Instagram post on Wednesday that featured several photos of her modeling the skin she’s receiving in the game. The post was captioned, “@fortnite see u in the item shop tmrw ⸜( ˘͈ ᵕ ˘͈)⸝ ♡”.
Most of the comments on Beer’s Instagram post are positive from her fan base. But there is also no shortage of football fans expressing their frustrations with Herbert.
“Tell your husband to lock in. I got him on fantasy,” one Instagram user commented.
Another added, “This is why Herbert playing mid.”
“Justin Herbert’s wife is better at a game than he is 😭😭,” wrote a third.
“please get justin’s mind right i’m begging you!!!” said another.
When your team is winning, fans will celebrate almost anything. A celebrity appearance? Great. A new video game skin? Fantastic. Someone’s dog wearing a team jersey? Give it a parade.
When your quarterback is struggling, however, the patience disappears and suddenly, every distraction becomes annoying.
That seemed to be the mood surrounding Beer’s Fortnite reveal.
Fans wanted answers from the football team, not another digital character.
And honestly, it is hard to blame them for being focused on the game happening in front of them.
