In his defamation lawsuit against attorney Ariel Mitchell and her client Courtney Burgess—who says he has footage of Diddy abusing celebrities and children—Diddy achieved a significant victory.
Mitchell attempted to have Diddy’s lawsuit dismissed, but the court stated, “Not so fast.” She concluded that Mitchell’s reasons were insufficient to prevent the case from proceeding.
The judge explicitly said in the ruling dated September 4 that Mitchell’s accusations were not merely opinion or exaggeration, concluding that the claims that Diddy secretly filmed sexual partners and sexually attacked people had “precise meanings that are readily understood.”
Mitchell is being sued by the imprisoned music entrepreneur for disseminating “outlandish claims” and “baseless speculation” in order to satisfy the public’s craving for “wild lies.”
Diddy is suing both Mitchell and her client Burgess for allegedly having video of the celebrity sexually abusing youngsters and celebrities, a claim Diddy refutes. After first requesting $50 million in damages, Diddy is now requesting $100 million.
Mitchell previously discussed the case with TMZ:
“This is just a pathetic ploy to silence victims and people who stand up for victims. Diddy has time to sue but refuses to accept service for the lawsuits already filed against him. I look forward to countersuing and ensuring the court punishes not only Diddy but also his lawyers who filed this pathetic lawsuit for this frivolous and meritless filing.”
Diddy was found guilty on two counts of trafficking prostitutes over state borders for prostitution during his 2025 federal trial. On more serious allegations of RICO and sex trafficking, he was found not guilty.
