In order for Inside the NBA to have a replacement, Charles Barkley still needs to retire, but he is aware of who should take his position if and when he does.
After a summer without basketball or a job, Barkley must have been bored. Due to Barkley’s announcement that this season on Inside the NBA would be his final, he started a media tour in September. But there is one catch: Ernie Johnson must also resign. Although Barkley has stated that this will be the longstanding TNT Sports host’s final season, no one has heard from Ernie Johnson regarding his possible retirement.
Barkley is adamant that it will be his final season if it is Johnson’s final one.
He was questioned about his retirement and whether Draymond Green would make a suitable replacement when he appeared on BetMGM Gameday Live on Westwood One Sports on Sunday afternoon.
Barkley acknowledged:
“I think Draymond would do a good job.” “I like Draymond, but Jalen Rose is fantastic. He’s substituted for us sometimes, Jalen Rose is unbelievable, Vince Carter is unbelievable… but Jalen Rose to me, would be the perfect guy because he’s done the most with us.”
Over the years, Jalen Rose has performed admirably as a stand-in on Inside the NBA. However, persuading Barkley to leave may be the most difficult part of replacing him. Barkley is adept at hinting at his retirement before pulling out.
He stayed in order for TNT Sports to attempt to retain NBA rights, even though he was scheduled to retire at age 60. After receiving a $100 million payment from TNT, he decided to stay instead of leaving for LIV Golf.
