Steve Kerr Couldn’t Believe His Eyes After Seeing His Look-alike At Warriors Game

Imagine showing up to watch the Golden State Warriors and discovering that the head coach has a twin walking around the arena. Now imagine that twin is enjoying free snacks while the real Steve Kerr is busy coaching an NBA team. Talk about a sweet deal!

Steve Gillis, the discovered look-alike of Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, is enjoying his unexpected moment of fame. His latest appearance came during the Warriors’ preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers in Las Vegas. And apparently, looking like an NBA coach comes with some delicious benefits.

Gillis managed to score snacks at the game. Yes, snacks! Forget championship rings and million-dollar contracts. This man has discovered a different way to cash in on his resemblance to one of basketball’s most recognizable coaches.

All he has to do is show up, look like Kerr, and let people do a double take.

Speaking to Luca Evans of the San Francisco Chronicle, Gillis revealed another fan who was at the game gave him M&Ms, nachos, and beer that she paid for at the concession stand.

“I didn’t say anything,” Gillis said. “I was so dumbfounded. And she wanted to get the picture, and she wanted to get away. I didn’t correct her. I did not. I’m sorry! I did not!”

Evans noted the entire cost of the concession items bought was $46.

The funniest part is imagining the real Steve Kerr seeing another version of himself wandering around the arena.

Gillis appeared to catch the attention of Kerr during the Oct. 13 preseason contest between the Warriors and Lakers. He was sitting a few rows behind the Golden State bench when Kerr seemed to look in his direction and stop when he noticed.

According to Evans, Gillis said he has been mistaken for Kerr for several years. It has even gotten to a point where his students — he is an English teacher at a Las Vegas-area high school — “come up to him in the halls.”

At least Gillis does not have to worry about drawing up plays or managing superstar egos. His biggest responsibility might be deciding whether he wants popcorn, nachos, or both.

And honestly, who can blame him? If people are willing to hand you snacks because you resemble a famous basketball coach, refusing would be downright disrespectful to the hustle.
