Devastating news.
Joshua Jones, the Dodgers fan who adored Matt Kemp has sadly passed away after a long battle with terminal cancer.
At a Dodgers vs Giants game in May, Matt Kemp infamously made Jones’ day by not only taking the time to speak with him after the game but then giving him his cleats, jersey and hat, the video was enough to make anyone sob.
Young Joshua was then flown to Los Angeles to meet Kemp, along with Mike Trout and Clayton Kershaw on the field before a game.
Joshua passed on Tuesday and Yahoo reported the following tragic details:
Laelah Quintor, his aunt on his mother’s side, tells us Jones died Tuesday night after his health had declined over the past few weeks. The moments he shared with Kemp and the Dodgers, she says, “definitely made a difference for Joshua.”…
Kemp, meanwhile, was saddened to hear about Jones’ death, but said — through his agent, Dave Stewart — that he was grateful to have met and spent time with Jones.
“He has given me a new perspective on the things that are really important in life,” Kemp said.
Joshua’s final weeks were spent around the people he loved the most and looked up to. Much props to Kemp for bringing so much joy to a kid who’s life was so terribly devoid of any.
May he rest in peace.
