The firing of Lane Kiffin by USC may have given some hope to other programs who are hoping to make a change.
Mack Brown has been on the hot seat for a few years, and one legendary former Longhorn believes it’s time for Brown to meet the same fate as Lane Kiffin.
In an interview with Fox 26 Sports in Houston,Earl Campbell was asked about the current state of his alma mater and what fate Mack Brown should meet.
Campbell, obviously tired of the mediocrity, told Fox 26 that Mack Brown should be fired as well, right now.
“I’d go on record and say yes I think it’s time,” Campbell said when asked about moving on from Brown.
“Some people get too old,” Campbell said. “If players get too old to play a game, why can’t a coach get too old to coach it.”
Campbell even applauded USC for their swiftness and axing Kiffin, and feels Brown should get the same.
“I’d just say this, I take my hat off for USC for what they’ve done. They didn’t mess around with it. They just said ‘let’s do it now.’ I think at some point our university’s people are going to have make a decision.”
“So sometimes a change is good. I think this is what we’re up against at the university. Nobody wants to say that, but somebody has to break the ice and say ‘yes it’s time.’ “
