Bob McNair has a short list of potential candidates, and former Bears head coach Lovie Smith is at the top of the hire list according to Pro Football Talk.
McNair indicated that former Bears coach Lovie Smith was a possibility for the vacancy, and the timing of Kubiak’s firing gives him an advantage.
Smith has been sitting patiently since being fired by the Bears after compiling an 81-63 record in nine years.
He reached the postseason three times and guided the Bears to Super Bowl XLI. Smith was fired in January with one year remaining on his contract and has been collecting roughly $5 million from the Bears for this year.
