The Knicks seem to operate like the are playing NBA2K14. They could be looking for big man help and reports are circulating they tried to sign Andrew Bynum but he wasn’t willing to play for the minimum:
“The Knicks were very aggressive in the end,” his New York-based agent David Lee told The Post. “In the end, they did everything they could.”
The Knicks only had the veteran’s minimum to offer, which pro-rated would have been $550,000. Indiana had part of its mid-level exception and can pay him a full $1 million for the rest of the season.
You can’t say the Knicks aren’t willing to try anything to get better. It’s probably for the best that they didn’t sign Bynum but him JR Smith and Carmelo on the same team would have been interesting.
