Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Evan Reed is being investigated for an alleged sexual assault. Things are very sketchy right now, but the incident occurred the night before Opening Day.
The 45-year-old woman claimed she met Reed in a Royal Oak bar March 30 — the day before the Tigers opened the season — and that she woke up hours later in a MotorCity Casino hotel room, where she was sexually assaulted.
“A thorough review of all of the evidence must be conducted before a decision can be made,” Miller said. “A charging decision is not expected this week. No further information about the case will be released until a charging decision is made.”
“Evan voluntarily appeared at the Detroit Police Department and told the investigators what exactly transpired on March 29th and 30th,” the statement said. “Evan, through his lawyers, in a rare move also provided the Detroit Police Department with witness statements, a test result, and a supplemental witness statement which details the alleged complainant’s actions after the incident.
No comments have been made from either Reed or the Tigers organization. If Reed did commit a crime, then he deserves to be locked up, but if this woman is lying, then her punishment should be equal to that of a sex offender.
