Floyd Mayweather may step out the box, and venture into the unknown for his next bout in sometime in 2015. ESPN is reporting via Pat Sheehan of The Sun, that he would love to sell out Wembley Stadium.
That statement leads some to believe that Amir Khan might get his shot in the near future.
It’s been a goal to come to the UK and put on a spectacular event and the plan is to do just that.
I love all my fans in the UK and I want to go there and give a good show at Wembley before I retire. I plan to come in the near future. I want to continue to make history with the mega events we put on.
Mayweather referenced the rematch between Carl Froch and George Groves at Wembley Stadium, that had a record 80,000 in attendance on Saturday as motivation.
Mayweather says he respects Khan, but doesn’t seem overly impressed with him at all.
“I respect Amir Khan as a professional and he’s supposed to believe in himself,” he said. “But for me, 46 men have tried to beat me and 46 have failed. No one has the formula to beat me.
“The Floyd Mayweather brand is globally recognised. The warm welcome over there in UK is a good indicator of the magnitude of success a fight would have.
“We’re looking forward to it in the future.”
Khan would likely be next, but the fight schedule conflicts with the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
