According to the Cleveland Associate Press #1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins will sign his rookie contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
A person familiar with the negotiations says the Cavs will sign the No. 1 overall pick to his deal, an agreement that would prevent any potential trade involving the small forward from being completed for 30 days.
This doesn’t mean that he will open the season with the Cavs; Wiggins can still be traded after the 30 days is over. Wiggins contract is estimated to be around $5.5M which would make it easier for the team to trade for Kevin Love, since the teams will have to have match salaries in any trade.
