It’s been hard finding anything other than heartbreak and sad stories since Mike Brown was murdered by a police officer. The Rams are trying to give people something to feel good about though.
According to Robert Klemko who has been reporting from Ferguson and works for SI, the team is offering free tickets to Saturday’s preseason game to three different High Schools in the area affected by the tragedy:
Rams manager of fan development and alumni relations Kyle Eversgerd contacted coaches at McCluer High, McCluer North and McCluer South; offering 75 free tickets to each team if they wanted them.
“In light of everything going on it just kind of hit me,” Eversgerd said. “I can’t imagine with all that stuff going on, how tough it must be to practice. We were able to get them away from it all.”
In the grand scheme of things, football doesn’t matter much compared to what is currently happening in that town. However, that doesn’t make this gesture any less impactful for people who need something good in their lives right now. Plus the fact that these tickets can normally run close to $100 each making this their only chance to see their pro team live.
Classy move by the Rams organization.
