Automaker KIA will have their logo featured on uniforms at the 2015 NBA All Star Game in Toronto. This idea has been floating around the league for years but will finally happen at this year. Turner Sports approached the NBA with an idea to use the jersey as additional ad space for Turner.
The deal is technically an ad buy, as Turner, in its latest TV deal negotiations, asked the NBA if it would be willing to allow the network to offer real estate on the game jersey to make an in-game advertising buy more appealing and valuable.
The deal is between KIA and Turner Sports and no details on how much KIA paid to be featured. For KIA they are a big sponsor of the NBA so it makes sense they would get a crack at the premium ad space. In the future I can imagine more companies trying to get the ad space for the All Star game and eventually regular season games.
