The New York Daily News has reported, 21 year old gang member Gabriel Patterson was sentenced to 33 months for committing bank fraud. The young member of the Eight Trey Crips was so pleased with his crime efforts, he got the Bank of America logo tattooed on the inside of his arm.
BoA was the victim of a scheme by Patterson in which he was copying the account and routing numbers off checks. He then drafted fake checks with the stolen numbers, deposited the checks, then withdrew cash against the sham balance.
Patterson’s enthusiasm for his crime was used against him in sentencing. Photos of the BoA tattoo were included in his sentencing papers and he did receive the higher end of sentencing for his crime. It’s 2016, unless you’re really sophisticated (and even then) you will get caught committing any kind of bank fraud.
