Legendary independent film director, writer, actor, and producer Spike Lee may soon be penned as director of Marvel’s superhero comic book turned film “Nightwatch” via the Hollywood Reporter.
Cheo Hodari Coker, producer and writer of Marvels Luke Cage is also set to screen write for the film. The film is guaranteed to be a success, and it will be interesting to see how the two work as a team — if you take into account how successful the first seasons of Luke Cage and the film turned series remake, She’s Gotta Have It on Netflix. With a solid script surely to be delivered by Coker and Lee’s unique technical filming styles with his signature, the Double Dolly Shot almost certain to appear as they have in nearly if not all of his 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks projects. One can only imagine that Nightwatch will mirror Marvel’s and Ryan Coogler’s ‘Black Panther’ success at the box office and regarding overall quality. As significant as it is to have a dominant Black presence behind-the-scenes — on-screen representation is equally important and intriguing as we wait to see who is cast as Nightwatch.
Nightwatch– the alter-ego of Dr. Kevin Trench, was first surfaced as a character on 93’s Web of Spiderman #97, as the Doctor who self-discovered his corpse appearing in a suit of armor, and ultimately attaining a 12 issue series run (1994).
