LeBron James’ Superpower Revealed by an ESPN Analyst

LeBron James has shown time and time again over the past few weeks exactly how much basketball is left in him. Chiney Ogwumike praised the Lakers player for still being at the peak of his game on a recent NBA Today on ESPN show. Additionally, she disclosed LeBron’s superpower.

LeBron is frequently criticized for trying to take the last shot for his personal benefit, but Chiney disproved this claim. She declared:

“His ammo is making the right play and I do think he is faulted for making the right play at the expense of his own ego at certain times, but in reality this is why it shows that he can step up and do the right and it works for his team.”

She also thinks that LeBron could easily dominate games if he so chooses due of his brilliance and skill, but he consistently puts the good of the team ahead of his own achievements. She declared:

“He can choose to be the most dominant player, he can choose to be the best player but he chooses not to because he understands the goal is to win and not necessarily for him always to be the winner, perceived as the winner. That is his superpower.”

The four-time NBA champion deserves all the accolades for uniting the team for the Olympics in Paris and for leading by example in the exhibition games when the rest of the team struggled to adjust to the new FIBA regulations. In the previous two exhibition matches, LeBron James prevented defeat for Team USA.

Both times against South Sudan and Germany, his squad would have lost if it weren’t for his fourth-quarter takeovers. The Olympic flag-bearer for Team USA this year replicated that performance in the opening match against Serbia (110–84). But Kevin Durant, with his incredible shooting display—he went a perfect 5 for 5 from beyond the arc—won everyone over.

“King James” was the second-highest scorer in the game with 21 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds in an equally impressive showing. In the USA’s easy victory over Serbia, he is also taking ownership of the all-time Top 10 leaderboards for three stats: games won, assists, and steals.

With 22 wins for the USA under his belt, the Lakers star is tied for sixth place with Rudy Fernandez and Pau Gasol. With his nine assists in the Serbian match, James’ career total now stands at 97, bringing him up from ninth to sixth position. In the leaderboard for steals, he also rose to third place, where he is now tied with Manu Ginobili and Rudy Fernandez. But he’s only one steal away from the runner-up position.
