Cooper Flagg Gets Brutally Honest About His Lakers Debut

At the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, the Dallas Mavericks recently faced the Los Angeles Lakers in their first summer league game of the season. Because it was the Mavericks’ star rookie Cooper Flagg‘s first game, there was a lot of interest surrounding this game.

With Bronny James competing against Flagg, the atmosphere was electrifying. It wasn’t one of his better performances, though, Flagg said.

When asked about the game by ESPN’s Katie George during the post-game interview, Flagg responded:

“Not up to my standard. I’m gonna regroup and I’ll be alright,”

In addition, Flagg commended his teammates Miles Kelly and Ryan Nembhard for their outstanding play. In the 2025 NBA Draft, Flagg was chosen by the Mavericks with the first overall pick.

Fans were on the edge of their seats as the Mavericks and Lakers displayed fierce competition at the Thomas & Mack Center. Bronny James played 21 minutes for the Lakers and finished with eight points, two assists, and two rebounds.
