Mateen Cleaves admitted to having sex with the women accusing of rape but it was 100% consensual according to TMZ.
The incident happen at a hotel in 2015 and the accuser claims she was being held there against her will and Cleaves rape her. Cleaves attorney claims the women is distorting the truth. His attorney Frank Manley claims she was under her own free will in engaged in kissing with Cleaves.
Manley is trying to convince the jurors that the women regretted in engaging sexual activities with Cleaves
Manley told the jurors, “Regret is not rape. Regret is not rape” and “Consensual sex activity between two adults is not a crime.”
Manley also told the jurors, “By the time the truth comes out, the truth will set my client free,” and he continues by saying “The truth will be there; the truth will be self-evident.”
Cleaves is being charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault with intent to commit criminal sexual penetration, second-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. If he convicted of all the crimes he could face 15 years in prison.
