Jermain Taylor won the IBF middleweight title in October, two months after fatally shooting his cousin. Taylor claims that his cousin was an intruder, yet the troubling 911 call paints a murkier picture of the events.

Taylor attend court today with his wife and daughter to enter a plea of ‘Not Guilty.’

Here are the details courtesy of TMZ.com:

Taylor didn’t say anything during his brief hearing — his lawyer did all the talking — and a June 23 trial date was set. According to local reports, the date was picked because Taylor will be training in March and April for a fight.

A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for May 29.

This story is far from over due to the fact that the original report cited another intruder, a man that fled without being shot.

“Mr. Taylor’s cousin and another individual came to his residence, and there was some sort of altercation,” Minden said, adding that the two who showed up at Taylor’s home were unarmed. “At some point, Mr. Taylor retrieved a handgun and fired several rounds. His cousin was struck multiple times. The cousin is alive and in serious condition at an area hospital. He has pretty serious injuries. The other person was not struck, but Mr. Taylor had fired several rounds and missed.”
