Dak Prescott Confirms Break Up With Sarah Jane Ramos Wants Joint Custody of Kids

Dak Prescott just turned what was supposed to be a wedding countdown into a full-on cancellation notice. Yes, the Dallas Cowboys player has officially called off his wedding with Sarah Jane Ramos. And if you thought it would end there, no, there’s more, because nothing says “this is serious” like adding a legal custody filing into the mix.

According to reports, Dak didn’t just cancel the big day and go back to throwing passes. He also filed for legal custody of their kids, Margaret Jane and Aurora. The reason? To protect their safety and welfare. Translation: things behind the scenes are clearly not giving “happily ever after” vibes.

Prescott has yet to discuss the split in public, while Ramos has posted online but not addressed the situation directly. On Sunday, however, US Weekly reported that the Cowboys quarterback last month filed custody documents in Texas.

The couple have reportedly agreed to amicably negotiate a temporary custody arrangement and the petition – filed on March 17 – pushes for joint custody to ensure ‘the best interest’ of two-year-old Margaret Jane and 11-month-old Aurora.

‘The parents of the children are separated. The appointment of the parents as joint managing conservators would be in the best interest of the children,’ court documents, obtained by Us Weekly, read.

It is reported that the order would ensure neither Prescott nor Ramos – who began dating in 2023 before getting engaged in October 2024 – could take their children out of Texas without written permission from the other.

According to US Weekly, meanwhile, the quarterback is also asking that the former couple avoids any communication involving ‘vulgar, profane, obscene or indecent language.’

The documents, as quoted in the report, read: ‘It is in the best interest of the children that [Prescott and Ramos] be appointed joint managing conservators of the children.’

Prescott has also reportedly asked the court to ‘make temporary orders’ to ensure his kids’ ‘safety and welfare’ moving forward.

Prescott and Ramos were reportedly given 30 days – after the motion was filed – to produce evidence of their ability to pay child support.

‘The parties are encouraged to settle their disputes amicably without court intervention,’ the documents conclude, per US Weekly. ‘The parties are encouraged to use alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation, to resolve conflicts that may arise in this lawsuit.’

At the end of the day, relationships end, plans change, and sometimes, things get complicated really fast.

Moral of the story? Love is unpredictable. One minute you’re picking wedding colors. The next minute, you’re picking legal representation.
