The NFL is doing their best to protect their quarterbacks but some measures have been extreme. Officials are calling roughing the passer penalties on pass rushers for hitting QBs shortly after the ball has been thrown.
The Packers’ Clay Matthews has been called for roughing the passer multiple times this season after making a clean hit on the QBs and he thinks the NFL is getting soft for sure, according to ESPN.
“Unfortunately this league’s going in a direction I think a lot of people don’t like,” said Matthews. I think they’re getting soft. The only thing hard about this league is the fines they levy down on guys like me who play the game hard.”
These controversial calls have been made with Matthews but in other games around the league as well since Week 1. Matthews’ frustration is definitely understandable. Flip the page for Matthews’ hit on Alex Smith and you can be the judge of the call.
