Glass half full Suge was looking at life in prison.
Glass half empty he is going to be an old man by the time he gets out of jail.
Days before his long-awaited trial was set to begin, former rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight pleaded no contest today to a voluntary manslaughter charge for running over a man with a pickup truck in the parking lot of a Compton hamburger stand.
Knight, 53, ran down 55-year-old Terry Carter and also struck and injured Cle “Bone” Sloan in the parking lot of Tam’s Burgers in the 1200 block of West Rosecrans Avenue on Jan. 29, 2015. Carter was killed and Sloan was seriously injured, but recovered.
The fatal confrontation, which was captured on dramatic surveillance video, occurred near a filming scene for the movie “Straight Outta Compton,” the origin story of the rap group N.W.A.
Knight had claimed he was trying to flee the scene in his truck, contending that Sloan — who was working security for the film set — was armed with a gun.
Under the plea deal, he’s expected to get 28 in prison when he is sentenced Oct. 4. Also as part of the deal, charges against Knight are expected to be dropped in a pair of other pending cases: an alleged robbery involving the theft of a camera from a female paparazzo who Knight accused of taking photos of his son in September 2014 and alleged criminal threats against F. Gary Gray, the director of “Straight Outta Compton,” in August 2014.
Unless he gets out early with good behavior, Suge will be getting out of jail when he is 81 years old.
