Earlier this week, Jimmy Butler made his intentions to be traded from the Timberwolves known as he narrowed his choices of teams to the Knicks, Nets, and Clippers. Since then, Head Coach Tom Thibodeau has said that he’d rather leave the organization than trade the all-star.
Now according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, executives from other NBA teams are pushing hard to make a splash at Butler but Minnesota is shutting all of that down as they’re saying that Butler is too elite and that they want to keep him despite him wanting out. It’s an interesting situation considering the fact that Butler and fellow star Karl Anthony-Towns are still beefing.
Butler had previous tried to get at KAT’s girlfriend so that definitely caused some friction in the locker room. I don’t know how Minnesota plans to make this work because those guys might go at it on site come training camp. Wiggins is also caught up in the drama as his brother tweeted “Hallelujah” when Butler said he wanted out so expect him and Butler to have some words also. Should they lose Butler, it will make it that more difficult to make the playoffs in the West even with solid talent like Towns and Andrew Wiggins in the starting lineup.
