Hit 90’s movie Boomerang is set to be rebooted but not as a full-blown film.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the hit comedy starring Eddie Murphy, Robin Givens, and Halle Berry will be a rebooted as a 10-episode comedy series with Oscar-winner Halle Berry and Emmy-winner Lena Waithe joining the project as executive producers. The project, which is billed as a sequel to the original, will follow the children of the film’s original characters.
Initially described as an updated version of the 1992 Eddie Murphy and Robin Givens feature, the half-hour comedy is now being described as a sequel. The series will follow the lives of Jacqueline Boyer’s (Givens) son and Marcus (Murphy) and Angela Graham’s (Berry) daughter as they attempt to step out of their parents’ shadows and make a legacy of their own.
Waithe will team up with Ben Corry Jones (Underground, Insecure) to co-write the pilot while Berry will return to the series as her regular character.
How will the reboot fare? Only time will tell. In the meantime, flip the page and enjoy a hilarious clip from the original.
