As reactions and hot takes continue to flood social media after Canelo Alvarez’s majority decision win over Gennady Golovkin Saturday night, Golden Boy chief Oscar de la Hoya is responding to critics of the win.
In an open letter distributed to the press Monday night via email, De La Hoya addresses to claims of fight fixing, whether GGG can get a fair shake in Las Vegas, and the reporting by Compubox that GGG landed more punches, therefore, should have secured the win.
In addition to co-promoter Tom Loeffler’s response post-fight, rival promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank and Showtime Network President Stephen Espinoza also shared their own thoughts on Saturday night’s pay-per-view.
