The Redskins needed help at wide receiver and added two former first-round picks Monday by signing Michael Floyd and agreeing to a deal with Breshad Perriman, according to ESPN.
Perriman entered the league in 2015 as a first-round pick of the Ravens. However, Perriman could never put it together after spending his rookie campaign on injured reserve, as described by NFL.com. In the past two seasons, he totaled 43 catches for 576 yards and 3 touchdowns in 27 games before being released on September 1 as part of the team’s personnel moves for the 2018 regular season.
The Cardinals made Floyd the 13th overall pick of the 2012 draft. He also played briefly with the Patriots and for a season with the Vikings. His playing time with the Vikings was cut short when he served a four-game suspension for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs, a punishment that stemmed from a DUI in December 2016. Floyd’s best season came with the Cardinals in 2013, when he caught 65 passes for 1,041 yards and 5 touchdowns. Floyd caught 10 passes for 78 yards in 11 appearances with the Vikings in 2017, via MSN.
Floyd and Perriman will join a wide receiver group led by Paul Richardson, Josh Doctson and Jamison Crowder.
