LA Galaxy superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his 500th career goal Saturday night against Toronto FC. Zlatan’s 500 goals have been accumulated for his playing time for both club and country. Not only will his record achievement go down in the history books, but the style in which he scored the goal.
Ibrahomivic scored in the 43rd minute on an audacious one-touch volley, finishing a long, aerial through ball from Jonathan Dos Santos. Ibrahimovic swept his right leg up, poking the ball past Toronto goalkeeper Alex Bono with a shot that bounced off the right post for the score, cutting the Galaxy’s deficit to 3-1, as reported by Sports Illustrated.
Ibrahimovic joins Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi and Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo as the only current active players to score 500 or more goals. Prior to playing for Los Angeles, Ibrahimovic had played with international clubs Ajax Amsterdam, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester United. He also played for the Swedish international team.
