Khabib Nurmagomedov called out Floyd Mayweather for a fight days after his huge win over Conor McGregor at UFC 229. Mayweather is all in and is confident in fighting an athlete outside of boxing, just as we saw win his win over McGregor last summer that put his boxing record at 50-0.
Mayweather spoke with TMZ Sports and said that the focus now is to make the Khabib fight happen and as soon as that’s done, he’d be ready to fight McGregor in a rematch. He addressed why he wants to fight MMA athletes and his reply was that a fight with Khabib would do crazy numbers. He’d want between $110-200 million in guaranteed money for the Khabib fight.
Mayweather did emphasize that it doesn’t matter in the end though in terms of if he fights Khabib or McGregor first. He is optimistic about the Khabib fight happening because many felt that the McGregor fight wasn’t going to happen. He also gave UFC President Dana White props for how he’s handled things.
Mayweather concluded by saying that he’s keeping combat sports alive and that he’s aiming for the Khabib fight to take place in 2019. Flip the page for Mayweather’s full comments.
