Colin Kaepernick who last played quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers in the 2016 season has apparently continued training to remain in shape for a possible NFL comeback if a team were to take a chance on him after his national anthem protests against racism and police brutality have caused him to remain unsigned.
According to TMZ Sports, Kaepernick currently trains daily with his trainer Josh Hidalgo who is the Head of Sports Performance at the Sports Center NYC. Their training sessions begin at 5 AM daily and include:
“…. we are on the field, warming up, sprint work, conditioning, throwing, lifting and stretching.”
“Then immediately after Kap’s training is done he is off to meetings … then we are back at it 5 AM on the dot.”
Although Kap has been involved in progressing the conversation about racism and police brutality as well as being the face of activism for minorities he still appears to love football. His ex-teammate Eric Reid recently signed with the Carolina Panthers and was also part of the national anthem protests against racism and police brutality.
They are both part of the lawsuit against the NFL where they believe the owners colluded against them and decided together they would not sign either player due to their protests against racism and police brutality. Reid has recently been signed by new owner of the Panthers, Dave Tepper who has known to bve very critical of Trump.
Kaepernick’s last season in the NFL saw him throw for 2,241 yards, 14 touchdowns and 4 interceptions with a 90.7 QB passer rating. Only time will tell if Kap’s collusion case will be resolved and if there is a team who would be willing to sign him as he is a better option than some quarterbacks currently in the league.
